This new business in Coraopolis is another example of Latino entrepreneurship
blending flavor, creativity, and community
By Carlos Roa
On Saturday, May 4, sweetness arrived in Coraopolis with the opening of Rosita Bakery, a
new business located at 1035 4th Ave. From strawberries and cream and colorful cakes to
desserts in a cup and custom designs, Rosita is redefining the art of baking. Each dessert is
a visual and flavorful experience.
The grand opening ceremony featured balloons, music, a large turnout, and the strong
support of a community ready to back this new venture that is already starting to make its
mark.

A Happy Ending
“This is a dream come true, I can’t believe it,” said Rosita during the opening. She added:
“At Rosita Bakery, we offer baked goods made with love and exceptional quality.” Her
business vision is: “To offer unique, fresh desserts with flawless presentation.”
Rosita Bakery’s offerings range from quinceañera cakes to wedding and birthday cakes, as
well as coffee and desserts. “All topped off with the best service,” as the owner promises.
Rosita has many years of experience working in bakeries. She finally decided it was time to
open her own shop. “But I didn’t know anything about business — I had no idea where to
start,” she recalls.
The Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation supported Rosita every step of the
way, from the initial idea to the ribbon-cutting ceremony — which was just the beginning
of this new journey. “For PHDC, supporting businesses like this not only promotes
entrepreneurship but also strengthens the local economy and enriches the community’s
diversity,” said Ximena Villanueva Smith, manager of PHDC’s Business Incubator.
“It wouldn’t have been possible without them,” Rosita said, referring to the Corporation.
