The Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation (PHDC) was founded in November 2012. PHDC is a community development corporation (501 C 3) dedicated to providing economic growth for Hispanics in the Pittsburgh region and attracting Hispanic immigration and investments to the area.
We are a community development corporation with no geographic boundaries, focusing on racial equity in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. We are dedicated to improving the lives of Hispanics in the region, increasing the Hispanic population, supporting existing and new Hispanic businesses, and increasing Hispanic investment in the region.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Independent Consultant for the role of Bilingual Housing Utilities Consultant. This consultant will be instrumental in supporting the Housing Navigator in working with Latino families to connect them with resources and opportunities throughout the renting process in the greater Pittsburgh area. The primary role will be to assist in opening and/or modifying utility accounts on behalf of tenants when necessary.
Responsibilities:
As an Bilingual Housing Utilities Consultant, you will:

Open and/or modify utilities on behalf of tenants when necessary.

Assist Home Navigator with daily communications with homeowners and real estate companies regarding property listings.

Assist clients with interpretation of communications (Spanish translation) ∙ Translate lease agreements provided by owners into Spanish for Latino families.

Assist the Housing Navigator in processing applications for units available for rent on different real estate company platforms in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Assist the Housing Navigator in processing requests for financial assistance in cases involving the City, the County, and other private funding programs, without profit motives.

Assist in the coordination of monthly follow-up meetings with landlords. ∙ Promote PHDC housing services at community events.

Attend meetings with Community Housing Partners when necessary.

Assist the Executive Director, Program Director, and Housing Navigator in tasks related to the PHDC Housing Program.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate who is:

Competent in communication, organization, and analysis skills.

Able to speak and write in Spanish and English at a minimum intermediate level.

Experienced using software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, and Google Suite, as well as social networks.

Has knowledge of social networks.
Preferred Skills and Experience:

Portuguese is a plus.

Extensive knowledge of social network administration.
Additional Information:

Must be willing to commit 20-30 hours per week Position will start immediately

As a Bilingual Housing Utilities Consultant you can work no more than 35 hours per week.

Contract renewal is available and will be considered based on availability and necessity.

Hours worked for PHDC or PHDC Housing events will be compensated, but are not included in the weekly hour total (which cannot exceed 35 hours)
